Ski Chile

The Andes - "Some of the best powder... in the world"

The Andes - it gets very high (12,000 feet), very suddenly. I last studied geography in 1983 and even I know high and dry is the best formula for powder skiing. That explains Scotland then.

The other thing to remember of course is that it's 'down below' - so skiing is from June till October - so if you get bored with Milton Keynes next August, you know what to do.

There are 14 resorts, the 3 biggies being Valle Nevado and Portillo near Santiago, and Termas de Chillán. Its probably only a 'Weird' place to ski from where I am sitting - the web sites are pretty impressive anyway.

Update: David Owen from www.powderquest.com specializes in South American ski tours, and including trips to visit several of the major resorts.

Valle Nevado

 Portillo

Termas de Chillán

Best site that gathers all the info? I recommend Go Chile
